Monitoring Platforms

With System Alerting and Monitoring (SAM) being deprecated in the near future..

  • What is everyone's go-to for Monitoring IRIS?
  • What is readily available?
  • What is the cost surrounding it?

Just trying to get ideas floating around of what we might need to start looking at to satisfy IT leadership.

Thanks

Scott

We will continue to use SAM for a while. Next year we plan to migrate to "DataDog" monitoring tool which is already being used in our company.
The /api/monitor/metrics/ can be still being used :-)

Thanks, yes I know /api/monitor/metrics would still be available, I was just wondering on which programs folks were using to ingest the data from /api/monitor/metrics/.

I think you can leverage Grafana and Prometheus vs /api/monitor/metrics/ as pretty much what SAM is doing.

Well, I've seen a couple of public tenders requesting Dynatrace for monitoring. I'll take a look at it  Does anyone experience on it?

Off the top of my head, I can think of customers running DataDog, Dynatrace, Splunk, and Cloud Watch.  There are certainly others.

Along with these big vendors, you might also want to consider SigNoz

Since it's only SAM which will be deprecated but the tools which actually "do the work" will still exist and the metrics api as well, we will use the SAM-stack without SAM, just Prometheus and Grafana which can be complemented by grafana-loki for log-aggregation.
This tool stack is very versatile and you can create beautyful dashboards for different purposes.
The only downside I see compared to SAM is, you have to configure some tools by configuration file.

Zabbix also possible to make working, and I think some teams already using it

Hey Scott.

I saw this post when you originally made it, and I was curious to know what direction you went with?
