And I did not find a restriction on the use of Ensemble 2018 installed on Docker with Openshift, but I received information that Intersystems would not support this installation case. That is true?

This would help us with the transition to IRIS as I carry out the migrations.

During my repeated testing with Docker Desktop, I'm often short on disk space
nd need to clean it over and over as described earlier.
The main reason is the rather uncontrolled growth of ext4.vhdx
that is located on my C: drive by default.
So I decided to move this file to a large external disk.

Following one package from the last contest I met a strange problem.
There was the requirement to install jupyter-notebook
I work on Windows and there was some old Python installed
No big surprise: Installation of jupyter-notebook failed
Therefore, the latest version of Python was installed fast.

Big disappointment: the installation of jupyter-notebook failed again!
Because the new installation of Python didn't upgrade the old one.
And also the environment variable PATH was not cleaned
This was not obvious immediately and took endless time and effort.

Has anyone seen this before? I'm new/bad at Docker and not even sure how to debug.

This release comes with Environment variables support.

Currently 3 variables are supported:

• IRIS_USERNAME=user to create
• IRIS_PASSWORD=with password
• IRIS_NAMESPACE=create namespace if doesn't exist

Here is what you can do - see below.

I have Iris4Health community version (using for some development) running in a docker container and trying to enable TLS/SSL/HTTPS in the container. I have created the SSL cert chain (root ca/web site cert) via open SSL have the http.conf and http-local.conf file loaded on a durable volume. I have  also loaded the root CA in the trusted root cert store on the device that is connecting.

After inspecting the logs it looks like apache has loaded the certs and is listening on the correct port, but I am unable to connect to the mgmt portal via SSL.

When I launch IRIS as a docker container instance, e.g. like this one:

And then try to connect to it e.g. via irissqlcli it says I need to change the password:

irissqlcli iris://_SYSTEM:SYS@localhost:9091/USER

Password change required

I know that I can open Management portal http://localhost:9092/csp/sys/UtilHome.csp and change password manually, but is there a programmatic way?

Say if I have a password in a file and I can just provide it to docker instance for the change?

Trying to make some scripts to do some IRIS initialization during startup, I noticed that iris start and particularly stop takes too much time, and it starts to many processes in the background.

nostu is mostly useless for system initialization but could help in some scenarios, such as setup passwords, but it is still too slow

And most every time I enter password for management portal and web-apps. The same password every time. Sounds familiar?

Is there an easy way to have a parameter in docker build  for a "dev-mode" that will not ask me a password?

When I run my IRIS in a Docker Container I know the host an know the mapped ports
so access is no problem.

BUT: is it possible from my IRIS
- inside a Container
- 'inside' Docker
to find the actual IP address of the Host?
This may sound strange, but for error tracking, it could be quite important.

I found a package on OEX for a Sharding Demo
If Sharding is NOT included in the Community License
I can not use the Community Distribution but require a different one.
And have to add ZPM manually. 

To prepare a migration to IRIS I use Docker images.
The (aged) application is built around Caché Terminal
And on Windows,  IRIS uses the same ctelnetd.exe as Caché.

In my Docker installation, Telnet Settings are just grayed out in SMP.
and my Terminal can't 'connect.
Port mapping is OK and verified with TCP

Working from the console in Docker  with the whole set of ESC and
screen formatting is not acceptable.
We tried WebTerminal but there is just no Partition behind as in Terminal.

How can I switch on Telnet support in the Docker image?

For quite some time I am bored by slowly starting Docke Demos from OEX.
I type

docker-compose up - d

and after a few seconds

docker-compose logs

And I just see ISC Agent was started and is hanging around
No IRIS instance is up yet.

IRIS is a powerful platform and one of the new features is the Java Business Host (DOC: Connecting Systems Using Java Business Hosts) that allow you to develop Business Services and Business Operations directly in Java (JavaDocs of the InterSystems Gateway Package).

I was testing this feature using an IRIS Docker image, but this image doesn't come with Java, the image is a bare Ubuntu image plus IRIS. So I had to build a new image adding the Java stuff. After some research I finally get this Dockerfile:

Hi, I would like to tell you how easy it is to spin up IRIS for Health docker container in compute engine(VPS) in google cloud.

I know that to run IRIS for Health in AWS is pretty simple and straightforward, but I wanted to tried if its same easy in GCP environment.

Create vm instance. 2GB RAM is more than enough.

I used Debian 11 as Linux distro.

Standart persistent disk is cheaper.

Don’t forget to allow http, https traffic

Last thing for setting up virtual machine is allow external ports in firewall rules.

IS anyone else having issues logging into the container registry?  I log in and it just says logging in and hangs?

There are several great articles in the community showing how to use Jupyter and InterSystems IRIS together, and I encourage you to check them out in the link at the end of this article for more in depth understanding.

This is just another one, the difference is on the simplicity. Do you want to just start a container where Jupyter is already connected to an IRIS instance? Then this is for you!

By simply running docker-compose up you already will gain access to a working environment with a couple of examples in it. I don't want to ruin the simplicity so give it a try.

Those who code IRIS solutions in VSCode using Docker often use the convenient ObjectScript menu, which contains links to Management Portal, Class Reference, Unittest portal, Productions, etc.

While drilling down to a Dev Container to code Embedded Python there is no such option, at least within my settings:

So I don't know how to connect to it.
