Java is a general-purpose computer-programming language that is concurrent, class-based, object-oriented, and specifically designed to have as few implementation dependencies as possible.

Hibernate is the most popular framework to do ORM (Object Relational Mapping) projects. With Hibernate a software can use the main DBMS in the market, including the capability to change the database vendor any time, without source code impact. This is possible because the Hibernate supports dialects. Each database product has a different dialect that can be assigned into a configuration file. So, if a software is using Oracle and is looking to evolve to InterSystems IRIS, just change the configuration file with connection and dialect information. If your software needs to be prepared to use

The InterSystems documentation https://docs.intersystems.com/irislatest/csp/docbook/DocBook.UI.Page.cl… says: "If you do not already have these files, contact the InterSystems Worldwide Response Center (WRC) for download information."

Hibernate is the most used framework to do database persistence. All databases in the market allows get hibernate driver in public repositories, InterSystems no. It is a barrier to InterSystems adoption in the Java Community.

When InterSystems will provide Hibernate jar file to public download, into a public maven repository?

Good morning!

I am developing a Java project (Spring Boot + Maven + Hibernate) but I've a big issue when I try to define the Hibernate Dialect org.hibernate.dialect.InterSystemsIRISDialect... that dialect is neither in the Hibernate library nor in the IRISDriver class com.intersystems.jdbc

How should I define the IRISDialect in my project?

Thank you in advance!

As a former JAVA developer it has always been a challenge to decide which database was the most suitable for the project we were going to develop, one of the main criteria I used was their performance, as well as their HA configuration capabilities ( high availability). Well, now is the time to put IRIS to the test with respect to some of the most commonly used databases, so I've decided to create a small Java project based on SpringBoot that connects via JDBC with a MySQL database, another of PostgreSQL and finally with IRIS.

In this article, we will establish an encrypted JDBC connection between Tableau Desktop and InterSystems IRIS database using a JDBC driver. While documentation on configuring TLS with Java clients covers all possible topics on establishing an encrypted JDBC connection, configuring it with Tableau might be a little bit tricky, so I decided to write it down.

I am trying to write a message to a Kafta cluster programmatically (i.e. not in Ensemble or using a Production) using %External.Messaging.  I am consistently getting a 'topic not found error' even though I have created the topic on the cluster.  I dug into the client I created an when accessing the property KaftaClient.jclient.gateway I get the following output:

Hi Developers,

See how the Production Extension framework (PEX) allows you to build custom interoperability components in .NET or Java without first learning ObjectScript.

With PEX, you can code in a familiar language and take advantage of established code libraries to add components to a production.

 What is PEX

SSH framework is a relatively representative framework of Java, which was popular many years ago. There are Struts+Spring+hibernate and Spring MVC+Spring+hibernate. Of course, I used the second one in college. If I can connect IRIS to Hibernate as a library, does it also mean that IRIS can be developed using SSH framework in theory?

Tools and environment

JDK 1.8

       Maven

       Hibernate 5.X.X

       IRISHealth-2022.1.3

IRIS is a powerful platform and one of the new features is the Java Business Host (DOC: Connecting Systems Using Java Business Hosts) that allow you to develop Business Services and Business Operations directly in Java (JavaDocs of the InterSystems Gateway Package).

I was testing this feature using an IRIS Docker image, but this image doesn't come with Java, the image is a bare Ubuntu image plus IRIS. So I had to build a new image adding the Java stuff. After some research I finally get this Dockerfile:

Introduction {#Webinar:ImplementingIntegrationswith.NetorJava-Introduction}

InterSystems IRIS 2020.1 includes PEX (Production EXtension Framework) to facilitate the development of IRIS Interoperability productions with components written in Java or .NET.

Thanks to PEX, an integration developer with knowledge of Java or .NET can benefit from the power, scalability, and robustness of the InterSystems IRIS Interoperability framework and be productive in no time.

I am trying to work with Java Selenium through Cache  my java programme works fine but I would like to pass parameters to the jar file form my Ensemble production. I followed this Tutorial here, For starters I wanted to copy it as it is and run that as an example but the (Stateless Service Mode Example) is not working within my eclipse environment with errors on the com.intersys. complaining about the service class. If anyone out there has had experience on this please advice all I need to do is be able to invoke my jar file within Cache(In general want to call my  java programme  within Cache

Hello!

I used %Projection.Java to generate the java proxy classes. Follows the projected class image.

Note that "import com.intersystems.binding.Database" was added but it displays the error cannot find symbol.

Has anyone had this problem, how was it resolved?

As we all know, Caché is a great database that accomplishes lots of tasks within itself. However, what do you do when you need to access an external database? One way is to use the Caché SQL Gateway via JDBC. In this article, my goal is to answer the following questions to help you familiarize yourself with the technology and debug some common problems.

  1. Summary

There are still legacy systems in the healthcare industry that use PB9, Delphi7, and other languages. To speed up the development process and enable third party applications to invoke the build-in HL7 V2 webservice provided by Ensemble or IRIS ASAP, we provide here several examples of invocations of Ensemble's HL7 V2 SOAP interface using Java, PB9 and Delphi7.

Assuming that EnsLib.HL7.Service.SOAPService.CLS, a build-in Business Service, is added to Production and named PeiXunHl7SoapIn, the external system can access HL7 V2 SOAP webservice through the following endpoint.

Now that IRIS 2021.1 is available as a preview version, I would like to demonstrate a "new" feature. The Java Gateway has been around for a while now but in 2021.1 it has new skills. External Language Servers are available for Java, DotNet, and Python. Here is a quick - very quick - demo of using the External Java Server. Please don't focus solely on what this demo is doing but rather on what is happening in this demo. First, I acquire a gateway connection oref. This gateway connection is connected to the External Java Server - one of the External Language Servers.

Hello,

I work on deploying IRIS using Kubernetes operator and Red Hat OpenShift. I encouraged another team working on Java application to consider using IRIS as database. My team deployed IRIS cluster using two mirrored data pods for the other team. The other team asked me for the connection information.

To learn how to use Java with IRIS, I attempted to deploy two apps from Open Exchange:

https://openexchange.intersystems.com/package/CRUD-GLOBALS-IRISNATIVEAP…

Here I got errors like this:

package com.intersystems.jdbc does not  exist

We are planning to build a REST API with the Java Quarkus Framework.

  • There'll be a connection pool;
  • The DataSource instance will be automatically injected from the connection pool;
  • We will use JDBI to do SQL instructions and this will give us automatic Connection and Statement management;

This Caché instance already have COS applications running and consuming connections and licenses.

After doing this, we will migrate to IRIS.

Is there any pitfalls that we must be aware before taking this approach?

If you want to see some code the PoC can be found here.

Thanks.

Consider a Natural Key with an Identity (Serial) field.

I cannot seem to acquire the generated value after persisting my entity. That is, the returned entity by Spring Data's "save" does not have the generated value.

The value is generated by the database, and I can query it after repository.save(entity).

I have done some testing and created a Github repo with it...

https://github.com/jesjobom/iris-hibernate-key-test
Am I missing something?

I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out how to properly map List collection types. I can't change the schema at all, and I don't have the ability to change the way they are stored from the serialized form to the Array projection. I'm also pretty locked into using JPA for Java interoperability, as I'd like to be able to change out the backing database arbitrarily.

I am using a Gradle Project for testing APIs, but I need to connect to the database.

I already put this on the dependencies:

But I'm keep getting this error: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.intersys.jdbc.CacheDriver

Is there any place that I can put a JAR file? Because the project has no lib folder (I already tried to add it, but it doesn't work).

Spring Boot is the most used Java framework to create REST API and microservices. It can be used to deploy web or executable web or desktop self-contained apps, where the application and another dependencies are packaged toghether. Springboot allows you do to a lot of functions, see:

Note: to learn about SpringBoot see official site - https://spring.io/quickstart

To create an web api application, with one or more microservices can you use Spring IDE for Eclipse or VSCode and use a wizard to config the technologies above that will be used into your app, see:

Hello. I'm having problems migrating a java application that is running with cache 2018 to Iris
The application uses json generated by the cache to receive it as a string in java.

Basically an instance of the "%ZEN.proxyObject" class
On Iris I've been trying to convert this '%ZEN.proxyObject Object to an instance of the %GlobalBinaryStream class and I need to get it via reference.
But I haven't had success yet. I Just found example with primitive dataTypes via reference and I need a Streams.
Has anyone done something like that?
This is my cache class example:
