Java is a general-purpose computer-programming language that is concurrent, class-based, object-oriented, and specifically designed to have as few implementation dependencies as possible.
As we all know, Caché is a great database that accomplishes lots of tasks within itself. However, what do you do when you need to access an external database? One way is to use the Caché SQL Gateway via JDBC. In this article, my goal is to answer the following questions to help you familiarize yourself with the technology and debug some common problems.
Now that IRIS 2021.1 is available as a preview version, I would like to demonstrate a "new" feature. The Java Gateway has been around for a while now but in 2021.1 it has new skills. External Language Servers are available for Java, DotNet, and Python. Here is a quick - very quick - demo of using the External Java Server. Please don't focus solely on what this demo is doing but rather on what is happening in this demo. First, I acquire a gateway connection oref. This gateway connection is connected to the External Java Server - one of the External Language Servers.
I work on deploying IRIS using Kubernetes operator and Red Hat OpenShift. I encouraged another team working on Java application to consider using IRIS as database. My team deployed IRIS cluster using two mirrored data pods for the other team. The other team asked me for the connection information.
To learn how to use Java with IRIS, I attempted to deploy two apps from Open Exchange:
Consider a Natural Key with an Identity (Serial) field.
I cannot seem to acquire the generated value after persisting my entity. That is, the returned entity by Spring Data's "save" does not have the generated value.
The value is generated by the database, and I can query it after repository.save(entity).
I have done some testing and created a Github repo with it...
I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out how to properly map List collection types. I can't change the schema at all, and I don't have the ability to change the way they are stored from the serialized form to the Array projection. I'm also pretty locked into using JPA for Java interoperability, as I'd like to be able to change out the backing database arbitrarily.
Hello Programmers, I'm trying to use Intersystems IRIS Database with Quarkus, but I'm getting problems making it work does anyone knows how to set up the Intersystems IRIS Database on Quarkus ?
I did that on my pom.xml and also I added the jar hibernate-iris-1.0.0.jar and intersystems-jdbc-3.2.0.jar but it's not working
Spring Boot is the most used Java framework to create REST API and microservices. It can be used to deploy web or executable web or desktop self-contained apps, where the application and another dependencies are packaged toghether. Springboot allows you do to a lot of functions, see:
Hi.... I am trying to execute legacy routines from Cache 2018, into new environment with Iris 2021. I use new JDBC driver to make this connection, and change my java code to execute this legacy routines. But I get this write error: <REMOTE EXECUTE INVALID WRITE> I changed the mnemonic routine to populate object and return this object to java. And the java class convert this object to json. This is my simple classes used for this process, just to exemplification:
However, few people know what technology the agency chose for storing and processing the data collected by Gaia. Two years before the launch, in 2011, the developers were considering a number of candidates (see “Astrostatistics and Data Mining” by Luis Manuel Sarro, Laurent Eyer, William O’Mullane, Joris De Ridder, pp. 111-112):
Hello. I'm having problems migrating a java application that is running with cache 2018 to Iris The application uses json generated by the cache to receive it as a string in java.
I'm trying to produce Kafka Message to Topic using Java Objects. I have build Business operation and Jar file and trying to execute. I'm getting following exception
Terminating Job 8316 / 'IrisKafkaProducer' with Status = ERROR #5046: Error executing java command 'init() returned: "ERROR #5034: Invalid status code structure ("java.sql.SQLException: [InterSystems IRIS JDBC] Communication link failure: Access Denied")"'. PEX is a new InterSystems IRIS feature to allows extends IRIS with existent features from Java or .NET.
It is possible create interoperability inbound and outbound adapters, business services (integrate from external to internal) and operations (integrate internal to external).
To create a PEX component it is necessary import .NET (InterSystems.EnsLib.PEX.*) or Java (com.intersystems.enslib.pex.*) packages and extends or implements the properly class.
Hi Developers!
Let me share with you some exercises from a workshop about developing interoperability components in Java using PEX (Production EXtension).
You will find slides and step by step exercises about:
Understanding simple PEX components coded in Java.
Making some changes on them.
All built using containers, so you don't need to build a local Java environment.
According to IDC, more than 80% of information it is NoSQL, especially text into documents. When the digital services or applications not process all this information, the business lose. To face this challenge, it is possible use OCR technology. OCR uses machine learning and/or trained image patterns to transform image pixels into text. This is important, because many documents are scanned into images inside PDF, or many documents contains images with text inside. So OCR are an important step to get all possible data from a document.
Bulid REST API application built with ObjectScript in InterSystems IRIS. It also has OPEN API spec, can be developed with Docker and VSCode, can be deployed as ZPM module. can be used as Overbooking System data REST api.
This is a remote position for a US Citizen who has significant MUMPS background AND has experience at a deep level with Java, and AWS Services.
The location is in Kirkland Washington, however, obviously during the COVID we will be doing remote work. Our hope is some is willing to relocated to the Seattle Region after we open up again.
Web Crawling is a technique used to extract root and related content (HTML, Videos, Images, etc.) from websites to your local disk. This is allows you apply NLP to analyze the content and get important insights. This article detail how to do web crawling and NLP.
Hi Cache team, I am in the need of listing all the user defined schemas that are present my Cache db and also the user defined tables and views and Columns of those tables and views through Queries. So that I can write some JDBC code to run the queries and fetch the above metadata. Any help is appreciated.
