Question Jon Jensen · Mar 20, 2017

Are these search filter options supposed  to  be exposed?  They seem like they are some sort of system description that should not be exposed to the general public?

Question Kevin Furze · Jul 31, 2017

suggestions to try to make the searching of the community better, more relevent

I've been searching within the community for an article about troubleshoting SQL's working out how efficient they are, and how to look inside the system for other SLQ's that we used but may be inefficient,  (still haven't found it, and getting frustrated)

In this instance, after many guesses, I tried

sql "how to" analyze plan tutorial efficiency inefficient troubleshooting highest

I know I've seen the article about this very subject, but it's getting darned hard to find things in the community.

Question Ondřej Hoferek · Jun 15, 2017

Searching the developer community for the string "node.js" leads to navigating to the following URL: https://community.intersystems.com/search/all/node.js for which the browser receives the "404 NOT FOUND" error response. The behavior is consistent for any search string ending on ".js" or ".css" (not sure whether there any other suffixes affected). Please fix the DC to handle such search strings appropriately.

Question John Murray · Apr 27, 2017

Using Chrome on my Android mobile I can't seem to get to a specific submenu option. For example in the screenshot below I use the menu button to bring up the first-level menu. Then I tap on "COMMUNITY". The second-level menu appears briefly, but doesn't give me time to tap the entry I want ("FEEDBACK") before it decides to take me to the page headed "Connect with Members".

Am I missing a trick, or is this a bug?

Question Pravin Barton · May 2, 2017

It would be nice if there were a permalink displayed for each comment. That way I could bookmark or send a link to a specific comment. I can see links to my own comments in the My Account page, but I don't see any way to get permalinks for other people's comments.

Here is an idea that would make the Developer Community immensely more valuable (to me anyway)

Have the capability of getting Listing output from searches or tags or groups.

In addition, have people put titles on their answers and comments,

And having a detailed list with all the answers and comments if needed

Then being able to sort the list by date or other criteria.

Something like:

Sub1 . . . .

-answer . . .

-comment . .

-answer . . .

Subject2 . . .

-answer . . .

Subject 3 . . .

-comments . . .

When posts are displayed on the DC homepage they only show the first part of each post. This part is known as the teaser, or the trimmed version. The DC software does its best, but without being given any hint by you it can sometimes produce teasers that are of limited value, e.g. "Hi!"

When composing your post, the Preview button lets you see what the teaser will look like. For example, here's the preview of an initial version of this post:

And if you want to take control, put the cursor at the point you want the teaser to end, then click this button on the editor toolbar:

Question Mike Kadow · Jun 24, 2017

I just tried to read all the Answers and Comments for a post of mine.

Some were 5, 8, 3, etc. days ago and others were just hours ago.

They all seem jumbled up.

If I wanted to read the Answers and Comments in some sort of chronological order, I would be lost.

I don't understand the reasoning on whether somethings is an Answer and others are comments.

But would it be possible to have the option when reading all the follow-ons to re-sort them in some sort of order?

Question Jeffrey Drumm · Jun 26, 2017

I noticed this morning that a post to which I had responded was apparently deleted by the original poster. In most other discussion fora, once a post has any sort of followup, only a moderator may delete the thread.

Nothing significant was lost in my followup, but I'm concerned that good information may, at some point, be lost due to the OP changing their mind about the original topic.

Thoughts? Comments?

(I don't plan to delete this post wink)

The top of my Answers tab looks like this:

To get to the question, first I have to click on the "Answer:" text (which only gets the appearance of a hyperlink when I mouse over it).

That click takes me here:

I now need to click on "Back to question page" in order to get where I want to be.

I suggest you put the "Back to question page" and its preceding checkmark (which denotes whether or not my answer was accepted) onto the "Answers" summary page in place of the "Answer:" hyperlink that doesn't look like a hyperlink.

Hi, Community!

We are having some troubles with post duplicates at the moment, we are working on it.

Now when you post your message it waits until timeout and shows 404  but also publishes the article.

Hope this would be fixed ASAP.

It's good to see growing participation in DC. However, sometimes I think that responses posted as Answers to Questions would be better classified as Comments. For example, the respondent could be seeking clarification about the original question (e.g. "What Caché version are you using?"), or perhaps following up someone else's answer or comment.

Question Chris Stewart · Apr 19, 2017

I've been creating some posts with embedded images, and some of the images seem to stop resolving after a period of time.  I've resaved them, and that has helped temporarily, but I just checked and one of the images is now not resolving again.  Is there a limit to the number of images on a post, or should I be using a specific filename pattern?

THanks

Chris

The DC homepage has a Top Stories panel.

What makes a story appear here?

When I click the "View All" link (highlighted above) I get the page at https://community.intersystems.com/top-stories

This one seems to reload periodically, each time displaying more and more posts. Will it ever stop? Or maybe it'll try and load every post there's ever been.

Perhaps because of the periodic reloading, the Comments, Views and Rating counts never seem to appear alongside the entries:

Question John Murray · Feb 14, 2017

Early on in my use of DC I think I marked a couple of things as favorites. On the right-hand side of the DC listings I have this:

The first entry links to a post by Bill McCormick. The second links to the Field Tests group.

Is there a way for me to remove these entries? Or are they a remnant of some DC feature that has been superseded?

Question Jon Jensen · Mar 24, 2017

I clicked on the RSS link on the developer community feedback page/group and it is broken

I tried other rss links from various groups and they all appear broken

https://www.community.intersystems.com/tags/Developer%20Community%20Feedback/feed

https://community.intersystems.com/tags/Announcements/feed

https://community.intersystems.com/tags/Field%20Tests/feed

https://community.intersystems.com/tags/Global%20Summit/feed

https://community.intersystems.com/tags/InterSystems%20Data%20Platform%…

etc.

It does not appear to be every group or tag failing rss, just some.

Question Jon Jensen · Mar 24, 2017

I just clicked on the link "Contribute feedback about this site" and was brought to the feedback group

https://community.intersystems.com/group/developer-community-feedback

However all the issues that have been logged are now  gone.   Were they all fixed?

All that is there  is some year old posts about winning a pass to global summit 2016.  They should not be in this feedback group.

Also the button to "create a new post" is gone from this page.

I wonder if this post will appear in the feedback group?

From time to time someone adds the "Developer Community" tag to a post that's actually about something else. I wonder if by renaming the tag to "Developer Community Feedback" this wouldn't happen so much. After all, the group is called "Developer Community Feedback". If folk feel the proposed new name for the tag is too long, how about "DC Feedback"?
